Why Learning the Art of Accompaniment is Crucial for a Music Student - Yellow Lights: A Music School in Thane

It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year again!

If you’ve been around Yellow Lights School of Performing Arts long enough, you know we don't like staying inside the classroom for too long. We make it a point to get out there and perform, and right now, our studio in Kavesar are buzzing with that familiar pre-show energy.

We are packing up the gear and heading back to The Walk, Thane for our latest student showcase.

For those new to our community, this isn't a one-off event, it's a core part of how we teach. This upcoming show features a fantastic lineup of students performing a setlist of 33 songs. We’re bringing everything from rock anthems to pop hits, and naturally since it’s December - a special carol to wrap things up.

Why do we do this regularly?

It builds muscle memory for confidence. Doing one show is scary. Doing your third or fourth show? That’s when you start owning the stage. By performing at public venues like The Walk regularly, our students stop worrying about the crowd and start focusing on the art. That confidence is something they carry with them everywhere, not just in music.

It teaches our students the art of collaboration. Music is a team sport. In every show we do, you see the chemistry grow. The student taking drums classes learns to lock in with the bass; the one in Western Vocal classes learns to command the band; the student in guitar classes learns when to shred and when to support.

And, as always, the keys play a huge role. Our students in keyboard classes are often the ones holding the melody and harmony together. Watching them coordinate live, show after show, is what we, as teachers of music, live for.

We are proud to be one of the few music schools in Ghodbunder Road that offers this kind of consistent public exposure. Whether it’s a five-year-old’s first time or a senior student’s tenth gig, the energy is always contagious.

If you are around Thane, come stop by The Walk, say hi, and cheer for the band.

P.S. If watching the show gives you the itch to join the next one, come talk to us. Whether you’re looking for the best music school in Thane for your child, or you want to start your own journey, our doors are open.

See you at the show!
